Can you live at home during a renovation?
Moving out costs money and disrupts family life. So it's natural to ask whether you can stay put while we build. The answer depends on the job.
When staying can work
The work is on one part of the house, like a rear extension.
You keep a working kitchen and bathroom for most of the build.
The site can be safely separated from where you live.
When moving out makes sense
The roof, kitchen and bathrooms are all being replaced.
Services like power and water will be off for long periods.
There's asbestos removal or major structural work.
You have young kids or someone working from home who needs quiet.
The hidden trade-off
Living on site can slow the build. Trades have to work around you, and areas need cleaning and securing every day. Sometimes a few months of rent pays for itself in a faster finish.
Our approach
We plan staging with you before work starts, so you know exactly when parts of the house will be out of action. No surprises.
